Governments around the world are increasingly regulating the flow of cross-border data on the basis of privacy, security, and other public interest concerns. These [aspects of global governance](/challenges-beyond-borders) that do not have primary health mandates can directly or indirectly influence health determinants within countries, or drive the flow of health-relevant risks between countries.

What types of policies should developing countries adopt and advocate to safeguard their interests, especially in health care? On July 24th, join [Global Access in Action (GAiA)](http://www.globalaccessinaction.org/), a project of the [Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University](https://cyber.harvard.edu/), for an open discussion about these increasingly important considerations. The discussion, **“Global Data Flows & Implications for Health Access in Developing Countries,”** organized in conjunction with the [Harvard Global Health Institute](https://globalhealth.harvard.edu/), will be facilitated by GAiA Co-Director and Harvard Law School Professor Mark Lu.
