The purpose of this screenplay was to bring readers into the perspective of a working-class family in West Virginia in the age of coronavirus. I wrote from this perspective not because I believe it is the only perspective that needs to be written about, but because it is the perspective that I know the best, coming from a similar background.

In a few short scenes, the screenplay examines the many factors that lead to the death of a health-care worker in rural West Virginia, and the media that informs the character’s decisions regarding social distancing and the virus in general. The screenplay is composed of two main components: action and dialogue. In addition, each new scene is demarcated as such and is written to be adapted into a film/short video.

**Characters**: The primary characters are:

- **Cooper, 50**. A construction worker, married to Caroline.
- **Caroline, 49**. A healthcare worker, married to Cooper.
- **Luke, 17**. Caroline and Cooper’s son, a high-school student.

**Central Conflict:** Caroline and Cooper are both working class individuals in rural West Virginia during the coronavirus outbreak. To stay afloat, they must continue to work, even at their own peril. Although both Caroline and Cooper believe in the dangerous nature of coronavirus, many of their colleagues and friends do not. Furthermore, when they are told to “work from home,” they are unable to. The entire script, they work hard to make the right decisions but ultimately, there are some things that are out of their control.
