A number of programs at the [Harvard Graduate School of Education](http://www.gse.harvard.edu/) (HGSE) address disparities in education, domestically as well as internationally, that illustrate, explore, and address the vital connection between education and health. The [Achievement Gap Initiative](https://www.hks.harvard.edu/centers/wiener/programs/agi), for example, is an interdisciplinary collaboration that bridges research with policy and practice to understand and respond to inequitable educational opportunities within the United States. HGSE’s master’s degree in international education policy draws students with a passion for global social justice. HGSE centers, such as the [Center on the Developing Child](http://developingchild.harvard.edu/), study and tackle many related challenges—for example, the lifelong effects of childhood “toxic stress”—in efforts that harmonize with interdisciplinary global health concerns.
