The Incubator hosted two high-school interns during the summer of 2015 to explore global health education and learning through the creation of novel multimedia products. The interns, working under the mentorship and supervision of the Incubator’s staff and university students, developed their own media projects on global health topics of particular interest. They also participated in workshops at the [Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning](https://bokcenter.harvard.edu/) to learn how to use animation programs and other multimedia technologies for instructional design.

The students were recruited based on their participation in the “Believe the H.Y.P.E.” high-school outreach program, offered by the [Harvard University Center for AIDS Research](https://cfar.globalhealth.harvard.edu/) (CFAR) in spring 2015. The program aimed to engage and empower urban youth at risk of feeling disconnected from the larger community and society, with the goal of equipping high-school students with information about the health and social impact of HIV/AIDS through the creation of a multimedia messaging campaign to educate their peers. The Incubator partnered with CFAR to provide intensive workshops to the participating students, introducing them to Director Sue J. Goldie’s innovative global health framework and the Incubator’s approach to global learning using visual literacies and communication strategies.
