The [Cambridge School of Weston](https://www.csw.org/page) and the Incubator [collaborated](https://www.csw.org/page/News-Detail?pk=956222&;fromId=197061) on a series of workshops on global health in early 2015. “Modular Mini-Course: Global Perspectives on Population Health” was a three-session shared learning and teaching experience to facilitate exploration of collaborative pursuits between the two organizations.

The workshops, held on CWS’s campus, were attended by a core group of 11 CSW faculty members, representing the science, math, art, history, English, and library/technology departments. They provided a broad conceptual foundation for critically thinking about population health in a global context, positioning health as a fundamental prerequisite for building strong societies, and as a social objective that has become critically relevant to economic development, national security, foreign policy, and a human rights agenda. A cognitive map of the relevant knowledge terrain provided an organizational framework for participants to consider the salient features of contemporary health challenges; the social, political, and economic determinants (i.e., the local context); and influential transnational forces (i.e., the global context). Given their interdisciplinary nature, meeting these health challenges will require contributions in science and technology, health systems and public health, social policy and public service, social innovation and entrepreneurship, and international collective action. A comparative lens revealed unexpected similarities and surprising differences across countries; while these contemporary realities undoubtedly complicate problem‐solving, they illuminate a common global agenda and opportunities for shared learning and collaborative solutions.
