Harvard Integrated Life Sciences Program

The Harvard Integrated Life Sciences Program (HILS) is a federation of the University's life sciences PhD programs, departments, and subject areas. It facilitates cross-disciplinary academic and research collaboration, supports student work “outside the box,” and encourages extracurricular participation by students, faculty, and staff. HILS helps students take advantage of science facilities across the University, and maintains a directory of external fellowships that can help augment graduate financial aid. Each year, HILS offers a “professional development workshop for life” series, tailored to address practical questions related to career development, including online etiquette, how to work with a mentor, the postdoctoral search, and strategies for non-academic career paths.
