Teaching Fellows Debrief Using Graphical Facilitation
Incubator Director Sue J. Goldie debriefed daily with the teaching fellows from the “Fundamental Concepts of Public Health” course, a new orientation week mini-course piloted in August 2015 at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, to discuss new pedagogical techniques and assess the successes and challenges of the course. Held each afternoon following the conclusion of FCPH large group and small group interactive sessions, teaching fellow meetings presented an opportunity for professional development and free-form discussion on teaching techniques and strategies, pedagogical tools, appropriate attitudes in the classroom, and ways to facilitate dialogue. In the concluding meeting, Goldie reflected with teaching fellows on the use of visual literacy in teaching, lessons learned, advice on teaching, and suggestions for future iterations of the course.
