Innovations in Remote Teaching
Professor Sue J. Goldie's home studio setup for teaching online
The current COVID-19 challenge has necessitated fresh, creative approaches for adapting classroom content for the virtual environment. To support faculty navigating this unprecedented time, the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning invited GHELI Faculty Director Sue J. Goldie to share some bite-sized insights on innovative remote teaching. In the series of short videos, Goldie described the key course changes that allowed her General Education course to transition online this spring; strategies for developing asynchronous teaching material for the course; and advice for fellow faculty adapting their courses for the coming semester.
Earlier this spring, Professor Goldie also appeared as a panelist as part of Harvard Visitas, the university’s incoming student event series, to discuss the ways the course has been adapted to best support and amplify student learning through the transition to remote learning. The panel, “COVID-19: Harvard College Courses Addressing Urgent Problems and Reaching Beyond the Classroom” included professors from other health-focused courses in the General Education program.
