Uganda's ResilientAfrica Network Meet With Incubator Staff Members
Representatives of ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) at Uganda’s Makerere University met with Incubator staff and Director Sue J. Goldie on November 14, 2016 to share information and discuss possible collaborations. RAN is part of USAID’s Higher Education Solutions Network, engaging with stakeholders in 26 communities and a network of 19 African universities in 13 countries. The network is highly focused on learning from communities about their health and other needs using in-depth “needs finding” interviews; RAN uses this ethnographic technique as a precursor to health interventions, leading to resilience of communities against health risks stemming from climate change, forced disruption, and other epidemiological factors. As an educational initiative, students and other partners create teaching and learning materials, including multimedia resources, and also utilize an “Innovation Garage” and “Social Design Clinic” to develop solutions to local problems.
