Harvard Humanitarian Initiative

The Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) is a University-wide center involving multiple entities within the Harvard community that provides expertise in public health, medicine, social science, management, and other disciplines to promote evidence-based approaches to humanitarian assistance. Its mission is to relieve human suffering in war and disaster by advancing the science and practice of humanitarian response worldwide. HHI fosters interdisciplinary collaboration through numerous activities, including: the Humanitarian Academy, launched in 2012, to advance and train leaders in humanitarian assistance; research; impact in health policy; technical assistance and advice to the NGO community to improve the quality of humanitarian response worldwide; and leadership through network development to connect key stakeholders in humanitarian assistance and disaster management.
