The Hutchins Center for African and African American Research at Harvard University supports research on the history and culture of people of African descent worldwide and provides a forum for collaboration and the exchange of ideas. The Hutchins Center hosts numerous projects and initiatives, including the HipHop Archive and Research Institute; the Project on Race and Gender in Science and Medicine; as well as the Jazz Research Initiative. The Hutchins Center also supports a fellowship program, hosts events covering a wide range of topics, and runs the Cooper Gallery.
