Center for Middle Eastern Studies

The Center for Middle Eastern Studies is the coordinating body and primary source of additional support for the various academic programs that cover the Middle East. The Center coordinates annual lectures and seminars, houses several research projects (e.g., the Moroccan Studies Program and the Iranian Oral History Project), and coordinates four graduate degree programs: the AM program in regional studies (Middle East) and three joint PhD programs in Middle Eastern studies and history, anthropology, and history of art and architecture. Its Middle East seminar series, co-sponsored with the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, focused its Fall 2014 talks on Gaza, Syria, and Iran, including explorations of humanitarian aid and the dynamics of talks about reconciliation.
