William Hsiao, K.T. Li Professor of Economics, Emeritus, discusses Taiwan’s national health system and the considerations that went into making a program that offers universal coverage at a low cost. Hsiao provides a brief overview of Taiwan’s health system, his role as leader of the task force designing it, and his reflections on what can be learned from Taiwan.
