Our Global Learning Studios

The studios at GHELI are a place of constant creation and experimentation.

Studio B

Our primary filming space at GHELI, Studio B, houses the more formal two-angle teaching set-up used for our educational content videos. As the key creation space for Faculty Director Sue J. Goldie, as well as senior staff and partners, the majority of our content production stems from this space, as well as many of our experiments in visual media. Our pre- and post-production is as important to our instructional design and pedagogy as production time in the studio. Our educational multimedia products evolve from these iterative production processes. This includes designing an approach to visual storyboarding for educational short-form content, which involves co-creation of a visual language (e.g., diagrams, frameworks, visual representations) that supports content.

The prototype sketches are integrated into Procreate software, used in production, and reproduced as learning and teaching assets in post-production.

Pop-Up Studio

Over the years, we have experimented with ad hoc studio-like settings throughout the GHELI workplace. Flexible studio space allows us to field-test prototypes, design instructional situations for small onsite classes, and practice with a variety of visual tools and techniques outside of our formal global learning studio. We set up a colorful “pop-up” studio in one of the offices using an overhead iPad and a front-facing iPad. Talent can simulate an in-person lesson experience by taking footage from each angle. Learn more about our studio in a box initiative on our SIAB Innovation page.
